President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Ghazanfar Bilour, has said more than 100 textile units are closed in the country and if they are made operational, they can generate billions of rupees through exporting the finished products. Supporting the demand of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) for uninterrupted power and gas supply at cheaper rates to compete international market, he said, textile sector has 65 to 70 percent share in exports that can be further increased if government provides power and gas at cheaper rates like other countries.
FPCCI president asked the government to fulfill their promise of export package of Rs 180 billion as demanded by APTMA. He assured the government that FPCCI would intensify its result-oriented to boost the exports for earning more foreign exchange if their genuine demands were met by the government.
"APTMA has great potential to attract foreign markets in textile as our finished products outmatch most of the countries in this sector," he said.
